The Lesser Known Hoysala Temple - Nageshwara and Channakeshava Temples, Mosale

On my series on "The lesser known Hoysala Temples", here is the second temple at Mosale, in Hassan district. The temple looks very much like the Bucheshwara temple of Korvangala. Said to be built in 1200 AD, the twin temples here are dedicated to Nageshwara(one of the forms of lord Shiva) and Channakeshava(a form of Vishnu).

Channakeshava Temple
The Nageshwara temple has the main deity of Nageshwara("Lord of Snakes", form of Shiva) in linga form and other deity related to lord Shiva, like Chamundeshwari, Saptamathrike(7 forms of goddess durga), Ganapati, Sharada and also Channakeshava.
Channakeshava temple has the standing idol of Channakeshava(form of Vishnu) and other deities related to Lord Vishnu.

These temples too have the Kalasha and Hoysala crest on top of the shrine and have intricate carvings on both inside and outer walls. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the temple, due to recent thefts.

Though the temple was closed when we reached here, the caretaker who stay just close by, was humble enough to open the temple and perform aarti for us.

How to reach:
Mosale is around 14km from Hassan off Hassan-Mysore road.
After driving around 10km, before Mosale Hosalli village, there is state tourism department board of Mosale Temple on the right. Take right and a 4km drive through that road takes you to Mosale village after 2 to 3 villages.
