Bird Watch

Due to the expanding civilization, many water bodies are been dried out. Down the lane a few miles from my house in Hassan is a dried lake. A ring road has been constructed dividing the lake into two. One part of the lake is completely dried out while the other still survives with very little water. The birds which used to take room still continue, the number has decreased drastically though. Here are pics of few of them.
First to find were a group of Egrets

Then was a lonely Pond Heron

And a Greater Coucal

And few small birds found near my house.

  2. We have the same problem, with a lot of areas without water, but it's a whole different scenario. There has been a drought here, with only 3-5 inches of rain a whole year, when normally it's close to 30 inches of rainfall.

But, your bird population, tho smaller these days, still is promising and beautiful!!

    1. oh, such a drastic decrease in the rainfall... In my place too more than 3 to 4 big water bodies have been dried out in last 5 years... Which in turn is adding to the temperature raise....

  3. Wonderful bird shots. It's so sad to read about the habitat loss.
