A Day Trip to Vihigaon and Igatpuri

My hubby gets alternate half and full offs on Saturdays.  Last Saturday being a off for him, we planned for a day's trip to Vihigaon and Igatpuri, as we had other priorities for Sunday...
Igatpuri is a hill station in Nasik Dist of Maharashtra state. With the arrival of monsoon, this is the perfect time to visit this place... Our plan was to start with Vihigaon Waterfall, then Igatpuri and if time permitted wanted to cover Bhandardara.
We started at 9, took NH-3 Mumbai Agra road, the drive through this route was awesome with lush greens on both sides. We stopped at Vithal Kamath near Asangaon for breakfast..
NH-3

We headed to Vihigaon waterfall. A 7km drive after Kasara reaches you to a railway track, take the deviated route from the highway under the track. Another 4km drive on this route reaches you to Vihigaon village. Vihigaon is a very small village and one can experience the perfect rural sight... The lush green grass carpets and  small ponds here and there, refreshes you from the busy Metro life. Through the village you can reach the top of the waterfall.. The full view of the falls can be found from the Kodhala road...

Next we headed to Dhammagiri(separate post on Dhammagiri) in Igatpuri.. By the time we were done with Dhamma Giri it was 4:30, so we planned for a return journey, cancelling our Bhandardara plan... Way back on highway, you come across so may waterfalls... Pit stopped at few of them to enjoy the beauty...

    1. Rupali, Vihigaon is just 2hrs drive from Mumbai, can easily be covered in a day, if you just want to visit the falls. If you are looking for stay option, you can look for hotels in Igatpuri which is around 15km from Vihigaon..
